What to do on a stay-at-home weekend

I bumped into a quote the other day which said, ‘better days are coming, they are called Saturday and Sunday.' Don’t we all just love weekends! It’s when you spend time with your family, relax and do something exciting.

Many of us make plans for an outing or to visit someplace over the weekend. Sometimes though, we prefer to stay at home and spend your weekend relaxing and catching up with things at home.

I enjoy spending my weekends at home because that’s when I get to organize my cupboards or do a little bit of gardening.

These are some suggestions for you to do over the weekend.

1) Organize and get rid of clutter. This is my favorite and one that I think everyone should do over a weekend.

2) Have a DIY spa treatment. Get a few items from your kitchen to make a scrub or a face mask.

3) Invite friends over for a home-cooked meal. It's the perfect time to show off your cooking skills. Make it exciting with a barbeque party or picnic in your backyard.

4) Bring out the board games. Yes, those board games sitting in your cupboard and collecting dust. Or buy a new game and get your family and friends to play.

5) Work on a hobby. It could be painting, sewing or reading a storybook.

6) Prepare a bucket list. Not just a mental list. Take a pen and paper and write them down.

7) Try a new recipe. Many of us enjoy watching cooking shows on the Food network.  Nigella Lawson and Jamie Oliver have some easy recipes that can be made at home.

8) Redecorate a room. In a previous blog, I had written about a living room makeover which can be done in 15 minutes. Hope that helps you with your weekend décor project.

9) Make a family scrapbook.

10) Spruce up your garden and plant something new.

11) Organize a karaoke night with your friends and family.

12) Have a movie marathon weekend. Catch up on all those movies or watch your favorites again. Pop some popcorn and get some finger food too for everyone.

13) Make home videos. Either make a cooking show or record a DIY craft project.

14) Shop online. Retail therapy is great and online shopping lets you shop in your pajamas. Take a look at our online shop too. You may just find the perfect wall art for your room makeover.  www.reslifestyle.com

Think about your weekend early and don’t wait for Friday to start making plans. It makes you look forward to something during the weekdays at the office.
